New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, will make his first trip back to Wayanad in Kerala tomorrow April 11, where he previously served as a member of parliament. He will conduct a roadshow and speak at a public rally in Wayanad during his stay. Rahul Gandhi was expelled from the Lower House of Parliament after being found guilty and given a sentence in a criminal defamation case in Surat in 2019. The issue concerned a comment he made while speaking at a campaign event ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections while using the surname "Modi." Rahul poked fun at Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Kolar, Karnataka, in April 2019 by asking, "How come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname?". As a result of his conviction, Rahul lost his right to serve as a member of parliament on March 24. According to the judgement, if found guilty and given a term of two years or more, any MP or MLA will be automatically removed from office. In the meantime, on Saturday, the Congressman stirred up more controversy when he sent out a scathing tweet that included the names of former Congressmen who had either defected to the BJP or severed long-standing relations with the grand old party, as well as that of billionaire Gautam Adani. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Anil Antony, and previous chief minister Kiran Reddy were among the people whose names were displayed in the image. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, responded by announcing that he will sue Congressman Rahul Gandhi for defamation due to his tweet tying him to the Adani Group. "Whatever Rahul Gandhi tweeted, it is false and libellous. We will respond to the tweet after the prime minister returns from Assam, and Guwahati will undoubtedly file a defamation lawsuit "he said.
