New Delhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday moved an adjournment motion in the lower house of Parliament to debate the issue of inclusion of Ladakh in the statehood and the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. In Kerala, Mp from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat Rahul Gandhi served a notice allowing a motion to adjourn the House. In his notice, the Congress MP said he wants to discuss the issue of setting up a committee with stakeholders including members of Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance to consider their demands. Rahul also raised the issue of uninterrupted access to traditional pasture land in the border areas. Rahul Gandhi said that there has been growing concern among the local people over the grant of separate statehood to Ladakh as several senior leaders of the Union Territory have recently called for a massive agitation for their demand. The Modi government at the Centre had in 2019 removed the status of a special state of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two Union Territories of Kashmir and Ladakh. The government had declared Ladakh as a Union Territory on August 5, 2019, after passing a law in Parliament.
