Railways suspends these trains among 29 special trains

India amid the huge surge in coronavirus cases in the past few weeks have imposed strict restrictions regarding movements. In the same view, the Indian Railways on Thursday announced suspension of services.  

The railways has suspended services of at least 28 trains including Shatabdi Express, Rajdhani Express, Duranto, Vande Bharat Express from May 9 until further orders. As per the reports mention, the Indian Railways decided to cancel the special trains. The railways with every state in country applying strict restrictions observed low occupancy and surge in COVID-19 cases due to which trains movements are called off. The expresses like Kalka Express, Amritsar Express, Dehradun Express, Chandigarh express, Kathgodam Express have also been suspended by the Railways from May 9.

India is struggling with a second wave of the pandemic with more than 300000 daily new coronavirus cases being reported in the past few days, and hospitals are reeling under a shortage of medical oxygen and beds. On Thursday, India recorded over 4.12 lakh cases of Covid and almost 4,000 deaths in the last 24 hours.
