Rajesh Tope accuses Centre of discriminating against vaccine supply: Modi Govt

Mumbai: Tension swells between the Uddhav government and the central government over corona vaccination in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday once again accused the Centre of favoritism amid allegations that have been going on for the past two days. The Health Minister on Thursday said that Gujarat has half the population as compared to Maharashtra, with 1 crore vaccines provided to Gujarat, while Maharashtra was given 1.04 lakh doses. What else is this if it is not discrimination?

Minister Rajesh Tope has demanded a 1.6 crore vaccine per month from Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. He said 6 lakh people are being vaccinated daily in the State. In such a situation, we need 40 lakh vaccines every week.  On Wednesday, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had said that only three days of vaccine stock is left in his state.

He also said that at many vaccination centers, people have been returned without vaccination. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had also reacted sharply after Tope's statement. Harsha Vardhan had said that there is no shortage of corona vaccines in the state. The vaccine is being sent to all the States as per requirement. Harsh Vardhan had also accused the Maharashtra government of indulging in politics.
