Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha TV merged, new channel will be named 'Sansad TV'

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha TV and Lok Sabha TV have merged, a decision has been taken to name the new channel Parliament TV. Retired IAS officer Ravi Kapoor has been made its CEO for a year. Information regarding this merger was given in the month of June last year, while it was officially announced by the office of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat on Monday.

Giving information about this merger, an official has said that, "Live telecast of Lok Sabha proceedings will be shown on Lok Sabha TV and the proceedings of the Upper House will be telecast live on Rajya Sabha TV. Apart from a joint session of Parliament and parliamentary work, both channels can telecast general content. It will be telecast in Hindi on Lok Sabha TV and in English on Rajya Sabha TV.''

In November last year, a panel was formed by Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for the merger of both channels. On the recommendation of this panel, both channels have been merged.
