Delhi's water is not drinkable, this Union minister alerts Delhiites

New Delhi: Union Consumer Affairs and Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan have said a lot about the water of the country's capital. He alerted Delhiites that the quality of tap water in Delhi is not up to standard. He said that the Union Ministry of Urban Development, Government of Delhi, Delhi Water Board, Ministry of Steel, Water Resources and Health and Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Ministry of Food will convene a meeting soon to discuss this issue.

The Union Minister was speaking to reporters after attending a review meeting of various laboratories and the monitoring system of their functioning under the Bureau of Indian Standards. Paswan said that the quality of water supplied from the taps in the capital is fixed, but it is not implemented. He says that the standard of quality of tap water is fixed, but it is rarely implemented in any urban body.

Expressing concern over the poor condition of drinking water quality, most important for health, Paswan said that we are very serious about it. Soon all parties will be called and discussed. Paswan said that the standard of tap water being voluntary is rarely followed. He said, 'The quality of water coming from the drains of Delhi can be called poor without testing it. Yellow or sometimes blue water comes out from the taps. However, he described the bottled water as quality-based.
