This team is under threat after losing to Real Madrid

After suffering a third consecutive defeat in the Spanish League La Liga, the Espanyol club is under threat of relegation from the league. Espanyol suffered a 0–1 loss to Real Madrid in a match played at home. According to the report of the news agency Xinhua, six rounds of matches are still remaining while Espanyol is at the bottom of the table.

Espanyol sacked their head coach Abeladare after losing 0–1 to Real Betis but newly appointed coach Francisco Rufete could not bring Espanyol back to victory in his first match on Sunday.

The only goal in the match was scored by Karim Benzema in the first half with the help of a superb backpass. Just four minutes later, the Chinese forward missed an equalizer to Espanyol. After this win, Real Madrid are on top of the table with 71 points and are two points ahead of their arch-rivals Barcelona.
