BHUBANESWAR: Niranjan Sethi, a retired Odisha Information Service officer, and another person were arrested on Monday for their alleged involvement in the murder of a cameraman for a small online station, police said. AAs per statement by the police, cameraman Manas Swain was kidnapped on February 6 from Bhadrak and taken to Dayal Ashram, an old age home on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, where he was severely beaten. His body was found on March 12 in the Badhipatna hills in the Rajsunakhala area of Nayagarh, according to the police. According to Additional SP, Bhadrak, Jatin Panda, Sethi, who recently retired as Director, Technical, of the Odisha Information and Public Relations Department, and his associate, Ranjan Nayak, were allegedly involved in the murder conspiracy, physical assault, and disposing of the body following the murder. He said that Sethi was present when the cameraman was beaten to death, and that the body was supposedly disposed of under his supervision. He stated, "We have adequate proof against Sethi."Swain, Panda suspected, was in possession of a CPU chip containing some inappropriate videos that may have gotten him in trouble. The police, on the other hand, have yet to get it.
