Rijiju warns tourists before visiting snowfall-hit Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh

Before visiting Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, travellers should get correct info on snowfall, according to Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju.

After several regions in Tawang were covered in snow, Union minister Rijiju, who represents the Arunachal West constituency, gave his advise. Tourists are unable to go to their destinations since the roads have become dangerous to drive on. While sharing a video on his Twitter account, Union Minister Rijiju warned tourists that the temperature in Tawang "goes down to -25." Heavy snowfall has been observed between Baishakhi, Sela Pass, and Nuranang, Rijiju said.

Union minister Rijiju tweeted: “Advise to tourists visiting Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh at this point of time. It is reported heavy snow fall between Baishakhi, Sela Pass and Nuranang. Pls get proper information before you move because the road is extremely dengerous to drive and temperature goes down to -25!”

 

 

On December 22, 2021, the tourist hub of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, which borders China, saw the first snowfall of the season. While the snowfall made tourists happy, residents must brace themselves for a severe winter with temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. The temperature in the Tawang area of Arunachal was -2 degrees Celsius on December 22, 2021.

After the first snowfall in Tawang, tourists flocked to the streets and valleys to take in the scenery as Tawang turned white. Due to the severe snowfall, many vehicles are said to have become stranded on the roads.
