Kolkata: The National Commission for Backward Classes (OBC) has decided to conduct a review of obc reservation in West Bengal. According to the commission, amid the competition for OBC reservation in various states of the country, Hindus have been converted to Islam on a large scale in West Bengal. Not only this, the Bengal government has also included Muslims from Bangladesh in the OBC reservation list. That is, Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims are also taking advantage of the reservation given to backward people in India. In fact, the OBC Commission team visited Bengal in February this year. During this time, these surprising facts have come out in the investigation. The commission has received this information from the state-run Cultural Research Institute (CRI). According to this, OBC reservation in the state has been divided into two parts. A total of 179 castes have been included in the OBC list. In this, the most backward people have been kept in the A category. Of the 89, 73 are Muslims and only 8 are Hindu castes. There are a total of 98 castes in its list, out of which 53 are Hindu and 45 are Muslim castes. That is, out of the total 179 backward castes in Bengal, 118 castes belong to Muslims, the remaining 61 backward castes belong to Hindus. This has raised the question that how has Islam, which claims to have no casteism, become more backward (Muslim 73) than Hindus (8) in the most backward caste category in India? Have these benefits been given to them and Rohingya-Bangladeshis by governments for the lure of vote bank? Because, in the last several elections, we have seen that the Muslim community votes unilaterally and outright. According to the OBC Commission, the West Bengal government has also sent recommendations for inclusion of several sections in the central list. In this, the state has sent a proposal to the commission. According to the commission, Punjab has also urged to increase OBC reservation. In Punjab, it will be increased from 12 to 25 per cent. Along with this, the state government has also recommended the inclusion of Yadavs in the OBC list. On Thursday, National Commission for Backward Classes (OBC) Chairman Hansraj Ahir informed that such recommendations are coming from states across the country.
