Kochi: A Popular Front of India (PFI) official has been arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist A Sanjeet in Palakkad district of Kerala. District police chief R Vishwanath told press persons that the arrested PFI official was directly involved in the murder of A Sanjeet at Manbaram in the district. Police said other people convicted in the case will be nabbed soon.

The identity of the officer accused of PFI in the case has not been revealed as his identity is to be paraded as part of the investigation. The wife of the deceased had said that she could identify those who had come in the car and killed her husband Sanjeet. Police said 27-year-old Sanjeet was murdered on November 15 while he was taking his wife to his workplace. Earlier today, police said they have caught three people in the case.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Sangh Parivar organisations have alleged that activists of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political branch of the Islamic organisation Popular Front of India (PFI), were behind the day-long killing. However, SDPI has denied the BJP's allegations.
