Sadhu Kottari, Noted Yakshagana exponent passes away at 59

Udupi: Legendary  Yakshagana Exponent Sadhu Kottari died of cardiac arrest while performing in the wee hours of Tuesday. He was 58. He was a senior Yakshagana artiste of the Mandarthi Mela troup. He suffered an attack while performing at Kalvettu near Kajralli in Shiriyara. While performing the role of Magadha in the Yakshagana Prasanga "Mahakali Magadendra" he complained of a severe chest pain at around 0300 hrs. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital at Brahmavar but died on the way. Sadhu Kottari was residing with his family at Barkur and had served the Yakshagana field for the past four decades.

Sadhu Kottari, who used to live with his family at Barkur, was renowned as a senior Badaguthittu Artist. He has been known to have performed for more than 40 years in an illustrative career as a Yakshagana Artist.
