Samsung to launch new refrigerator with larger screen at CES 2023

SEOUL: Leading electronic platform Samsung Electronics on Thursday, December 29, introduced a new 'Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus', equipped with a large touch screen, which it will launch at CES 2023, the world's largest home appliance exhibition to be held in the US' Las Vegas from January 5.

It has a 32-inch display, which is significantly bigger than the 21.5-inch screen seen in Samsung Family Hub refrigerators from earlier generations. The new Family Hub has been improved to enable customers to take use of the "Samsung TV Plus" service, which lets users view about 190 US TV channels and about 80 Korean TV channels for free in "PIP (Picture in Picture) mode.", the company said.

"The Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub from Samsung Electronics offers a considerably increased experience in addition to the larger screen. By incorporating fashion trends, we'll be at the forefront of refrigerator innovation and development "said Junhwa Lee, vice president of Samsung Electronics' home appliance division.

The company said, the integrated SmartThings hub offers six SmartThings Home Life services namely: Air Care, Home Care, Pet Care, Clothing Care, Energy, and Cooking. It also manages and monitors various SmartThings devices.

The new refrigerator also supports the Amazon Your Essentials service, which enables users to order frequently used items and groceries using a widget on its touchscreen display.

The company noted that because the SmartThings hub is integrated, customers can use the refrigerator as a home IoT hub by using the Family Hub to control lights, blinds, switches, motion detection sensors, and door open sensors from multiple manufacturers.
