Mumbai: Senior Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has not got relief from the court in the Patra Chawl scam case. He will now have to remain in jail till October 17. The court has extended the judicial custody of Sanjay Raut till October 17. His bail plea will also be heard on the same day. The court had earlier sent him to judicial custody till October 10. On August 1, the ED arrested Raut on charges of financial irregularities. On July 31, ED officials raided several locations of the Shiv Sena leader and questioned his family as well. Earlier on June 28, the ED had summoned him for questioning in a money laundering case. It is alleged that there has been a scam of Rs 1034 crore in the Patra Chawl case. Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha's name has also been shortened in the scam. The ED had also issued a summons to her for questioning. Raut is considered very special to former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. According to the report, during the raid, the ED seized Rs 11.50 lakh cash from Raut's house. In April last year, the ED had attached assets worth Rs 11.15 crore of Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha, including a flat in Dadar. Apart from this, he also had some other properties in partnership with Swapna Patkar. The investigating agency says that Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha was sent money by Madhavi, the wife of accused Pravin Raut. There was a transaction of Rs 1 crore 6 lakh between the two.
