Moradabad: In Uttar Pradesh, a large-scale scam has come to light in the name of scholarships given to minority students. The scholarship is given by the Government of India to minority students through the National Scholarship Portal. This is a Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. Scholarships worth more than 10 crore rupees have been embezzled by opening 7000 fake bank accounts in Moradabad, Amroha and Sambal districts of UP. The police investigation has revealed that all the educational institutions and children whose names were used by the gang to grab the scholarship money were fake. The role of officers of the Minority Welfare Department in the gang has also come to light. The police investigation revealed that three educational institutions in Moradabad, five in Amroha and 12 in Sambhal were fake. They are just on paper to grab scholarships.
