Kartarpur Corridor: Talk of Second Round underway, Here's Report

The second round of talks between top officials of India and Pakistan is on the draft Kartarpur Corridor agreement and operational and related technical issues. Officials from India and Pakistan are in talks to finalise the modalities of the Kartarpur corridor and related technical issues. During the meeting, the Indian delegation headed by Joint Secretary (Internal Security) SCL Das in the Ministry of Home Affairs met Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Faisal. The decision of the discussion is expected to be smooth.

In a statement, a Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, "Pakistan is fully committed and cooperating to operate the Kartarpur corridor. More than 70% of the construction work of the Gurudwara has been completed. "We hope to have productive discussions today," said a Khalistan supporter from the 10-member Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (PSGPC) under Indian pressure before the Kartarpur Corridor talks, but pakistan did not respond to its actions. He included another Khalistan supporter. PSGPC is going to play the role of Coordinator in the activities of Kartarpur Corridor. India had, therefore, objected to the presence of pro-Khalistan elements.

For your information, the talks between the officials of the two countries were scheduled to be held on Sunday at Kartarpur on April 2. The meeting is scheduled to discuss which devotees will be able to visit the Gurudwara Durbar Sahib in Kartarpur, how the corridor will be manned by devotees, what documents will be required and whether it will be visa free. Facilities for smooth, safe and free movement of devotees will also be considered. The top officials will soon come to a decision in this matter.
