Sexually harassing girl students: K'taka College President arrested

DHARWAD: The President of college in Karnataka's Dharwad city has been booked on charges of sexually harassing girl students, in consiperacy with the principal and a lecturer, police said on Friday.

The Karnataka police had lodged an FIR against the accused for sexually exploiting college girls last week.

The principal and the lecturer were taken into custody by the Dharwad Upanagar police after filing a case under the POCSO's rules. The search for the college president was initiated.

Police claim that the accused made several proposals to two girl students over a period of time sexually exploiting them.

The incident had come to the spotlight after the college girls took courage and lodged a police complaint against the accused, alleging that the accused had raped them under the pretext of taking them to places like hospitals, temples etc.

The results of the police investigations indicated that the accused had harassed more than ten female college students sexually. The two females who reported the alleged sexual assaults have been complaining for the past four years. Even more alarmingly, the police investigation has shown that the accused used to pay the victims visits in their hostel rooms and hang out there till the wee hours of the morning. Further investigation is on.
