The matter was first brought to the attention of the Delhi Police on Wednesday. Officials were told that a six-year-old girl had been brought to a local hospital in a critical condition. A medical report later verified that the minor had been sexually assaulted. In their statement to the police, family members have accused a 34-year-old neighbour of the crime. The police have registered a case in this regard at the Mayur Vihar police station on the basis of the complaint. Let us tell you that a few days ago a nine-year-old girl was murdered and forcibly cremated by four individuals in Nangal village, the minor's family alleged. In their statements to the police, family members also accused the four men of sexual assault. Initial reports had hinted that the accused tried to convince the family to cremate the child's body without informing the police as it would 'complicate matters'. A court on Tuesday sent the four accused to three-day police custody on Monday.
