Shane Nigam row: Actor agrees to pay compensation to producers

The four-month-old dispute between noted Malayalam cinema actor Shane Nigam and the Producers Association could end soon. According to the latest update, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on Tuesday to resolve the issue. There was an executive committee meeting. At the same meeting, Shane Nigam was given a compensation of Rs. 32 lakhs to the producers of their stalled films - 'Weyil' and 'Qurbani'. Agreed to go. Apart from this, the compensation amount has been raised from Shane's remuneration. The amount has not been officially confirmed yet.

The AMMA has eleven members, including Chairman Mohanlal and Secretary Ivela Babu, present at the executive meeting held in Kochi. With this, AMMA President Mohanlal said that the Producers Association has been informed about it. Also, a decision about removing the actor's ban can be taken by the producers association after a meeting with AMMA representatives on Wednesday. Shane sparked controversy after the actor posted a Facebook video alleging that he was facing death threats from 'Weil' producer Jobbie George.

Subsequently, Joby held a press meeting and the actor was accused of breaking the film deal by changing his appearance for the film 'Qurbani'. Although the issue was resolved after AMMA's intervention, the film's shooting resumed. Later, the actor was accused of giving emotional stress to the 'Weil' team and delayed shooting. Also as a sign of opposition from the producer, the actor got his hair shaved. All his upcoming 3 films were terminated due to this. Along with this, the producers joined hands against him and demanded to pay his damages. Also a month ago, the Kerala Film Producers Association sought compensation of 1 crore from the actor. But the AMMA has taken a strong stand that such a huge amount cannot be given.
