Maharashtra: The statue of his bronze statue has been installed last Saturday for the first time, nearly nine years after the demise of Shiv Sena founder late Balasaheb Keshav Thackeray in Mumbai, the country's economic capital. The statue set up in the memory of Bal Thackeray has been unveiled with a drumbeat besides a splash of flowers and applause. All this has been done by Bal Thackeray's son and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. The statue has been unveiled at a prominent place near Colaba in South Mumbai. According to information received, the statue has been set up at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk, near the gateway of India on MG Road. The statue of former prime Minister Lalbahadur Shastri is also located right next to this statue. Bal Thackeray was a good person on the politics of Maharashtra and his funeral was done at Shivaji Park. He addressed the first general meeting of Shiv Sena. A grand monument of Balasaheb Thackeray has also been built in Mumbai's mayoral residence complex located in front of Shivaji Park. Balasaheb Thackeray was a popular leader among the people of Maharashtra. At present, they have a nine feet high bronze statue which was set up on an 11 feet high base. The sculptor who created this statue is Shashikant Vadk. "I saw hundreds of photos and videos of Balasaheb Thackeray to predict the true sense of the face of the late veteran leader," he says. During the unveiling of the statue, Uddhav Thackeray and his wife Rashmi along with Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray, Raj Thackeray and his son Amit were involved.
