New Delhi: The controversy over the statue of Veer Savarkar on The North Campus of Delhi University is not taking a toll. When questioned about the issue with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray after a massive protest by the NSU, Thackeray said, "Who does not belive Veer Savarkar d should be beaten in the square. Savarkar was also insulted by Rahul Gandhi, "Such children will not understand the importance of freedom." It may be mentioned that overnight statues of revolutionaries like Veer Savarkar, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh were installed on the North Campus of Delhi University. According to information, the three statues were installed late Monday night by Dosu President Shakti Singh at the Arts Faculty Gate. After which the NSU had put a shoe garland and a soot on the mouth of veer Savarkar's statue in protest. The statues are said to have been planted by the ABVP without getting permission from the administration. In this regard, Dosu President Shakti Singh says that there was a demand from the DU administration several times for the installation of the statue, but every time the demand was unheard of. Earlier, there was a demand to name the Dosu North Complex as Veer Savarkar. A few days later, a statue of Bhagat Singh and Bose has been installed at the gate of the North Campus along with Veer Savarkar.
