Muzaffarpur : In a shocking incident from Muzaffarpur district in Bihar, a couple posted a video on social media offering to sell their child. This disturbing case involves Neeraj Singh and his wife Julie Devi, residents of Kevatsa village in the Benibad police station area. The couple, parents of nine children, shared a video where they announced that they were willing to sell their child due to extreme poverty. They even claimed to have already sold one child to another couple. This desperate act has raised many questions, particularly about how a mother could reach the point of selling her own child. The couple's explanation highlights their struggle with severe poverty, which has left them with no other options. Neeraj and Julie were married 17 years ago, and after having four children, Julie underwent a sterilization procedure in 2015, as part of a family planning camp organized by the state government. However, despite the surgery, Julie continued to conceive, and the couple has had five more children since the operation. Shockingly, Julie is now pregnant for the tenth time. The couple has repeatedly complained to local authorities, including the District Magistrate and Civil Surgeon, about the failure of the sterilization procedure, but no action has been taken. Frustrated and overwhelmed by their inability to care for so many children, they resorted to making the video, hoping to attract attention to their plight. Neeraj and Julie's financial situation is dire. They struggle to provide even one meal a day for their family, and their children often go hungry. Their situation worsened when their names, along with those of several family members, were removed from the ration card and voter list, further limiting their access to essential resources. Faced with this overwhelming poverty and a lack of support, the couple felt they had no choice but to offer their children for sale. The fact that they have already sold one child underscores the severity of their desperation.
