Significance of Bel Patra in Mahadev’s Pooja, Avoid doing these mistakes before plucking it

Mahashivratri also refers to the night when Shiva performs the heavenly dance called Tandava. The Hindu calendar is lunisolar but most festival dates are specified using the lunar portion of the calendar. We all are excited for Mahashivratri. This year Mahashivaratri will fell on 18 February 2023. On this day Shiva devotees offer prayers with full devotion and observe fast.  The festival of Mahashivaratri celebrates the union of Lord Shiva and Shakti. Devotees in order to impress Lord Shiva offers Prasad, Bhang, and Several types of flowers and fruits.

Bel patra enjoys a massive significance in Shiva Pooja. Worship of Mahadev is considered incomplete without Belpatra. As per popular belief Lord Shiva is famous for his Rudra avatar and Bel patra helps to calm down.  As per the Shivpuran,  if a person offers bel patra to Mahadev in the month of Sawan, it is equal to 1 crore kanyadaan. As Bel patra has a massive significance in Shiva Pooja. There are some important rules you should know before offering them to Lord Shiva otherwise it has a negative effect.

Always offer three-leaved belpatra to Mahadev. There should be no stain or damage in the leave,  Cut-torn or damaged belpatra should not be offered on Shivling. After washing the belpatra with clean water, its should be offered on the Shivling. The dry part should be kept upwards. If you don’t have belpatra at the time of worship, then you can wash the belpatra that were already offered to Lord Shiva by other people and offered to offer it to Mahadev again. One offer at least 1 belpatra to Mahadev.  It is also considered good if you offer Belpatra the numbers like 11, 21, 51, 10. Take the name of  Mahadev before plugging the belpatra. After plugging it seek a blessing from the tree.  Belpatra should not be plugged along with the whole branch. Do not plug Belpatra on Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami Tithis, Pradosh Vrat, Shivratri, Amavasya and Mondays.
