Singapore: 777 new Covid-19 cases,535 Omicron infections confirmed

SINGAPORE: On Friday, Singapore reported 777 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country's total number of cases to 283,991. According to the report, 366 of the new cases were in the community, 15 were in migrant worker dormitories, and 396 were imported cases, citing Ministry of Health figures (MOH).

According to the government, 535 new Omicron cases were confirmed on Monday, with 251 being native and 284 being imported. There are currently 165 patients warded in hospitals, with 13 cases seriously ill in the intensive care unit (ICU), resulting in a 43.2 percent ICU utilisation rate. Two more patients have died due to  Covid-19 infection, increasing the total number of people who have died to 837.

On Friday, the weekly infection growth rate was 1.69, up from 1.50 on Thursday. The data, which officials consider a vital indicator in calibrating COVID-19 measures, refers to the ratio of community cases over the previous week.

A rate greater than one indicates that the number of new cases per week is increasing. On Tuesday, the weekly infection growth rate exceeded 1 for the first time since November 12.
