A SIPCOT release on Friday, said a industrial park at a cost of Rs 360 crore to accommodate only industries except that fall under category A or B as per Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) notification, 2006 and amendments thereof will be setup near Sriperumpudur, Tamil Nadu. The type of industries proposed for the new industrial park includes Automobile parts manufacturing industries, Engineering and Fabrication, Electronics components, Packaging units and any other Non-EC category industries. SIPCOT estimated that the new project could attract investments that creates employment opportunities around 10,000 people. Environmental clearance has been obtained for the development of SIPCOT Industrial Park-II at Vallam Vadagal from State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA). The SIPCOT release further said that the objective of SIPCOT is to establish, develop, maintain and manage industrial complexes/parks/growth centres besides Special Economic Zones at various places across the State of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu which remains as one of the favourable state attracting investments will see its proposed SIPCOT plan fruitful. Several thousands of skilled and unskilled will be beneficial.
