With the increased attraction on Investments in Tamil Nadu, the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) has got the toughest environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) for constructing an industrial park in 691 acres of unused government land in Tiruvallur district at Rs 250 Crore.  

Managing director, SIPCOT, J Kumaragurubaran said a news agency, “Last week, environmental clearance for polluting and non-polluting industries was obtained for the industrial park at Manallur and Soorapoondi villages of Gummidipoondi taluk. We started circulating the EC details to the public domain for investors and business captains to visit the site. Enquiries have started coming in". He also has shared the blue print of the proposed industrial park. MD is confident that the park will be ready in another 6 to 9 months. He informed the preliminary works, including approach roads through state highways and the master planning works, have already started. 

About the expected occupancy by the companies, MD said “Gummidipoondi industrial park is already full and the nearby Sri City promoted by Andhra Pradesh is also full. For business captains looking for new ventures and expansion, the Manallur site would be ideal and cost-effective". SIPCOT is planning to allocate plots in range from 2 acres to 10 acres. Pharma and evehicles sectors are of high focus. Irungattukottai, Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, Vallam Vadagal, Pillaipakkam, Gummidipoondi and Thervoykandigai SIPCOT in the vicinity of chennai are fully occupied.
