New Delhi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up in the Hathras gangrape case has stepped up its investigation. Whoever was present on the rural spot at the funeral of the victim has been called for questioning. SIT has summoned a total of 40 people from the village for questioning. After the victim died in Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, the police had arrived in Hathras at midnight. The family of the victim and the villagers had protested against the funeral of the body. The family demanded the daughter's body be taken home, but was forcibly cremated by the police. The villagers also grappled with the police during the protest. However, SIT is investigating the Hathras scandal. The team also went to the victim's house on Tuesday and answered questions. The pyre-burning place was inspected. SIT has been given another 10 days to complete its investigation. SIT will now submit its inquiry report to the government on October 16. The investigation team has also recorded the statement of the victim's brother. SIT officials have also inspected the victim's house and roof.
