Bangalore: Karnataka Police have taken six individuals into custody in connection with the physical assault on a Hindu boy in Belagavi. The incident unfolded when members of the Muslim community allegedly spotted the boy in the company of a Muslim girl, resulting in a brutal attack. The incident, which took place in the Khade Bazar area of Belagavi district, prompted the registration of an FIR against 13 individuals. A video capturing the assault circulated widely, leading to swift action by the authorities. The victim, identified as Gyaneshwar, works as a footwear dealer. In the disturbing visuals, Gyaneshwar is seen surrounded by a group of men who took matters into their own hands, subjecting him to a violent beating purportedly after his interaction with a Muslim girl was noted. The unfortunate episode transpired during Gyaneshwar's journey with the girl in an auto, traveling from Belagavi bus station to Khade Bazar. Allegedly, over ten individuals from the Muslim community subjected him to verbal abuse and physical assault. Belagavi's Commissioner of Police, Sidaramappa, confirmed the arrest of six individuals in connection with the case. The authorities at Market Police Station are actively pursuing the whereabouts of the remaining suspects. It remains a stark reminder of the need to address interfaith interactions with tolerance and respect to foster a harmonious society.
