Sixth Phase of Lok Sabha Elections Sees 63.37% Voter Turnout

The sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections recorded a voter turnout of 63.37% across 58 seats in eight states and Union Territories, according to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday. A total of 889 candidates from Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Delhi, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal competed in this phase.

Voter Turnout Details The ECI reported that the voter turnout for male voters was 61.95%, while female voters had a higher turnout of 64.95%. The turnout for the third gender was 18.67%.

Highest and Lowest Turnout West Bengal, governed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), saw the highest voter turnout at 82.71%. Uttar Pradesh had a turnout of 54.04% across its 14 constituencies. Delhi recorded a 58.69% turnout, and Haryana saw 64.80% of its electorate voting. Odisha and Jharkhand recorded turnouts of 74.45% and 65.39%, respectively.

Total Voters and Votes Cast Out of 111,316,660 registered voters, 70,544,933 cast their ballots in this phase, as stated by the ECI. The commission noted that Form 17C, which is provided at every polling station to candidates through their polling agents, contains the actual data. The final turnout will be confirmed after counting postal ballots.

Previous Phases First Phase: 166.3 million voters participated, with a turnout of 66.14%. Second Phase: 158.64 million voters, with a turnout of 66.71%. Third Phase: 172.4 million voters, with a turnout of 65.68%. Fourth Phase: 177.07 million voters, with a turnout of 69.16%. Fifth Phase: 89.56 million voters, with a turnout of 62.20%.

Election Timeline

The election for 543 Lok Sabha seats is being conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19. The vote counting will take place on June 4.
