Former President Pranab Mukherjee Awarded Bharat Ratna, Sonia-Rahul Give Ceremony a Miss

New Delhi: Former President and senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee has been honoured with the Bharat Ratna. He was felicitated by President Ram Nath Kovind at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday to honour the highest civilian honours of the country. Several leaders of other parties including BJP, Congress were present at the function.

However, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi were absent from the function. The BJP has attacked the Congress. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said what has happened to the Congress. We don't understand. Pranabda is not the leader of any one party but the leader of the nation. All the party people attended their honour ceremony. But I don't know what has happened to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

On the other hand, Congress leader Tariq Anwar has said that former President Pranab Mukherjee used to design it. Whether it is ministers or social workers, they have served the nation. That's why he has been awarded Bharat Ratna. However, in the case of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi not attending the function, Tariq Anwar said, "I have no idea about it.
