New Delhi: After Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team is going to question the party's working president Sonia Gandhi today. The Congress leaders are accused of grabbing the loss-making National Herald newspaper through fraud and misappropriation of money. Sonia Gandhi will leave her residence at 11.30 am and will reach ED's office at around 11.45 am. ED will question and answer Sonia Gandhi in a money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper. In view of health, Sonia Gandhi has got a special concession from ED. She will be given breaks from time to time to take essential medicines. At the same time, it is being told that Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi can go to drop her mother at the ED office. What has happened so far in the National Herald case? The case was filed on November 1, 2012, by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, after which on June 26, 2014, the court issued summons against all the accused, including Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi. On August 1, 2014, the ED registered a case in this regard. But on December 19, 2015, the Patiala House Court in Delhi granted bail to all the accused, including Rahul-Sonia. However, in 2016, the Congress leader had gone to the Supreme Court seeking a quashing of the proceedings against him, but the court refused. In September 2018, the Delhi High Court also dismissed Sonia and Rahul's plea filed against the income tax department's notice. After which, on June 2, Sonia was summoned for questioning. But, suddenly Sonia Gandhi fell into the grip of corona, and she had to be admitted to the hospital. However, the ED waited for her to recover and issued a fresh summons to Sonia to appear before it on July 21. Let us know that, Rahul Gandhi has also been questioned for 50 hours in this case, in which the investigating agency had said that Rahul is giving a befitting reply by the lawyers. However, today, while the investigating agency is preparing to question Sonia, the entire Congress is going to protest against the questioning on the streets.
