SpiceHealth puts up a mobile lab for COVID testing at Amritsar Airport

SpiceHealth, the healthcare arm of the SpiceJet company, made its arrival in Punjab on Monday with the launch of its first mobile laboratory for COVID testing at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar. According to the corporation, the mobile testing laboratory will provide RT-PCR, Rapid RT-PCR, and Antigen tests for all incoming and exiting travellers from the city. It will aid in the expansion of COVID testing at the airport, in Amritsar city, one of the state's most populous cities, as well as adjacent regions, SpiceHealth said.

SpiceHealth has opened its first-ever testing facility in Amritsar, after successfully launching its COVID mobile testing labs in some of the worst-affected states, according to Avani Singh, CEO of SpiceHealth. Residents of the city and surrounding areas are also welcome to use the facilities, she added. SpiceHealth's RT-PCR testing labs have received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories and the Indian Council of Medical Research, and each facility can do 3,000 tests per day.

The company claims to have completed 5-million RT-PCR tests since its start in November 2020, when it was founded by SpiceJet's promoters. According to the press release, SpiceHealth was the first to offer the notion of mobile testing laboratories that could be installed in distant locations, confinement zones, and communities where access to hospitals and medical services was and continues to be difficult.
