Sri Lanka holds four Tamil Nadu fisherman, yet another attack by the army

Fishermen apprehended for allegedly entering the Lankan territorial waters were belonging to Tarangambadi in Nagapattinam districts in Tamil Nadu. On Tuesday, a fishermen association in Tamil Nadu said, they were allegedly fishing in the sea off Kodiakarai coast.

This incident took place when the fishermen ventured into the sea and were fishing about 20 knots southeast of Kodiakarai. This morning representatives of the association claimed that the Lankan naval personnel came to the spot and arrested them. The fishermen have been taken to Kangesanthurai in the island nation and complaints with the officials of the fisheries department has been logged.

The centre and state should take necessary steps to protect the fishermen and their equipments.
