Sri Lankan Navy has attacked a group of Tamil fishermen with stones and empty liquor bottles. Sri Lanka who enjoys poking Tamil fishermen was calm for the past few years. Now, the Navy has attacked the group of fishermen when they were fishing near Katchatheevu. In this brutal attack, One fisherman sustained injury on his head.

P Jesuraja, President of All Mechanised Boats Association, has said in the early hours of Monday nearly 3,000 fishers from Rameswaram had gone for fishing. While fishing near Katchatheevu, fishermen in 50 mechanised boats were attacked by Sri Lankan Navy from 10 patrol vessels. Our fishermen was hit by their stone and glass liquor bottle pelting, and also damaged their fishing nets. A fisherman named S Suresh (30) from Thangachimadam sustained injury on his forehead. Due to the attack, the fishers immediately returned to the shores, he said.

The fishermen who was the victim was treated as an outpatient at the Government Rameswaram Hospital. A week ago, the Rameswaram fishermen who were fishing near Katchatheevu were chased away by the Sri Lankan navy. On Tuesday, a video of the last week’s attack was circulated in social media. The video shows a Lankan Navy personnel was seen throwing stones at a boat and he was later joined by another Navy man.
