New Delhi: Today is going to be a memorable day for the Indian Navy, it is going to receive INS Kavaratti on Thursday i.e. Kavaratti is an anti-submarine warfare ship that will play an important role in the Indian Navy. The anti-submarine warfare ship will be inducted into the Naval Fleet with a programme at the naval dockyard in Visakhapatnam. Talking about the speciality of this warship, it has more than 90% indigenous equipment.
The Indian Navy, on INS Kavaratti, says that the ship has been prepared by the Navy's naval design team, which gives evidence of India's self-reliance in the region so far. It is noteworthy that it is the last of the four indigenously-built anti-submarine warships under Project 28. Three warships have already been handed over to the Indian Navy.
Project 28 was launched in 2003, so far ships like INS Kamrota, INS Kadamat, INS Kilton have been received by the Indian Navy. As per the information furnished by the Naval officers, 90% of the indigenous equipment are fitted in INS Kavaratti. It has a sophisticated weapon system.
