New Delhi: The state's electricity companies are often under discussion due to huge losses. Due to this, there is a problem in maintaining the power system. The central government has targeted to provide electricity to all. For this, it is necessary that these power companies should be saved from losses. The government brought several schemes for this. Special schemes were implemented twice in the last seven years to improve their financial condition and the situation is that it has neither been able to stop the loss in transmission and distribution (T&D) nor is it able to recover the fair price of electricity from every power customer. As a result, the payment of power generating companies is increasing. Seeing no change in the situation, the central government is going to implement Udaya (Ujjwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana) again in a new cleaver. After the implementation of Uday-2, if DISCOMs are unable to pay the bills of power generating companies on time, then a provision is being made to impose heavy penalty on them. According to the information given on the receipt portal of the Ministry of Power, in July this year, the DISCOM owed Rs 73,748 crore to all the power generating companies. This is 57 per cent more than in July last year. State power companies are often victims of schemes like power waivers by the state governments.
