stock market opened at record highs on Wednesday, ONGC Top Gainer

The Indian stock market opened at record highs on Wednesday following a rally in global markets as Covid vaccine hopes and fading uncertainty in US politics elevated sentiment. The BSE Sensex rose as much as 302 points to its new high of 44,825 while the Nifty rose 91 points to its all-time high of 13,145.85 during the morning session. Broader markets were also positive with the Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap up over half a percent each.

Shares of HDFC Bank touched a fresh record high of ₹1464 apiece in the early deals on the BSE, led by which its market capitalization jumped to ₹8.02 trillion

TCS remains in focus today as the company participated in the buyback offer. The stock pared early gains to trade weak.  Max Financial Services on better earnings of Rs. 81 crore in net profit for the second quarter is trading higher by over 1 percent.

Stocks that will be in limelight today include- IRB Infra, Muthoot Finance, IDBI Bank and  Glenmark among others.  Muthoot Finance shares in line with expectations trade weak as RBI rejected its proposal to acquire IDBI AMC.
