66th Yamaha Fascino Filmfare Awards South 2019 held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on 21 December. Funny speeches, lively performances and sensational styles of celebrities made it a night to remember. In the Permanent Guest List which included Manju Warrier, Trisha, Aishwarya Laxmi and Arvind Swamy, they saw the finest actors in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industry side by side.
With his witty one-liners, the hosts of the event, Sudeep Kishan and Regina Cassandra, were entertained by the audience till midnight, though Dakshin Praveen like Rakul Preet Singh and Malayalam's own Haryanvi Ayyappan did a lot of banging segments with strong acting Offered. There were also some special moments of the evening such as veteran Malayalam filmmaker Hariharan, who already has five Filmfare Awards, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Also Tamil actor-director K. Bhagyaraj gave the award to Hariharan. The acclaimed Malayali director revealed on stage how, years ago, he had tried to make a film with Bhagyaraj, but did not feel lucky to receive the award from him.
In Malayalam's big winner Malayalam, debutant director Zakaria's Sudani From Nigeria bagged the highest awards for Best Film, Best Actor (Female) and Best Actor (Critic) for Savitri Sreedharan and Saubin Shaheer respectively. Ee Ma Yau, Joseph and Theevandi won two each. Joseph George, who won the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role in Joseph, said, "I'm someone who started his career with small roles and Filmfare is one of the most prestigious honors." Thank you Pipetta (Director M Padmakumar) for the award. ”Joseph's song Poomathole also gave Vijay Yesudas the Best Singer (Male) award.
