New Delhi: The apex court had formed a four-member committee to resolve tensions over three agricultural laws brought by the government. The first meeting of the Committee is to be held today. This was stated by committee member Anil Ghanlay on Monday. The apex court had stayed the three new agricultural laws and constituted the committee for the time being. Speaking on the meeting, Anil said, "We will have a meeting on Tuesday. This will include only committee members. We will discuss the points related to the talks and then decide further action." The apex court had on January 11 stayed the implementation of the three agricultural laws till further orders. Farmers' organisations have been demonstrating on various borders of Delhi for the past 54 days against three new agricultural laws. The apex court had constituted a four-member committee to end the ongoing tension between farmers' organisations and the government. The Supreme Court has appointed Indian Farmers Union (Bhakiu) President Bhupinder Singh Mann, agri-economists Ashok Gulati and Pramod Kumar Joshi as members of the committee. Mann, however, has left the committee. The committee will submit its report to the Supreme Court within two months of hearing the favour of farmers who support and oppose agricultural laws.
