Kashi-Mathura masjid to be demolished before UP polls: Markendey Katju

New Delhi: Former Supreme Court Judge Markandey Katju is often in the news for his controversial statements. Now one of his Facebook posts is fast going viral. In this post, he writes, "It's a tableau now, Kashi Mathura is left. Those who are shouting that BJP's popularity is declining have forgotten that Uttar Pradesh elections have set a far cry. That is, the election is far from over".

Katju further wrote, "A systematic communal riot will be organized shortly before the elections (possibly by demolishing kashi and mathura masjids), which will provoke our foolish people whose skulls are full of communalism and vote for the BJP in a stupor. Katju's post has sparked outrage on social media. A social media user named Brijesh Dwivedi commented on his post and wrote, "A former judge was not expected to make such a fallen statement. Knowing this, Ayodhya is the birthplace of Shri Ram, a case was fought for him for many years, construction started only after the court's decision. If justice is served in time, people will not be agitated. You talk about instigation all the time. They don't always fail to declare Hindus as invaders. If a Hindu really becomes aggressive, many diseases will be cured".

Markandey Katju has also come under fire from several other users after his statement. However, this is not the first time he has been making absurd statements to stay in the limelight. In 2015, Katju said at a seminar, "90 percent of Indians are idiots who are easily misled in the name of religion".
