Narada sting case: Supreme Court refuses hearing, CBI withdrew case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to hear Trinamool Congress leaders arrested in the Narada sting case. The Supreme court said we are not going on the merit of the case. A five-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court is hearing the case. The Supreme Court further said that CBI withdraw its petition in this regard. CBI and the other parties concerned with the matter should speak before the High Court. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had challenged the Calcutta HC order to keep Firhad Hakim, Madan Mitra, Subrata Mukherjee and Shovan Chatterjee under house arrest.

Earlier, in a dramatic development in the Narada scam case, four TMC leaders Farhad Hakim, Madan Mitra, Subrata Mukherjee and Sovan Chatterjee were ordered to be 'house arrests' instead of being sent to judicial custody. Against which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now moved the Supreme court. the CBI had challenged the Calcutta High Court order allowing TMC leaders to be detained in the Supreme Court today and sought suspension of the hearing.

Recently, the Kolkata HC in its decision ordered the four leaders of the TMC to remain under house arrest. A bench of Acting Chief Justice of Kolkata High Court Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arijit Banerjee gave the verdict while the two were at odds. The Calcutta High Court had granted bail to the four leaders and ordered that the four Arrested TMC leaders be kept under house arrest and given all medical facilities.
