SC rejects Supertech plea to break 2 illegal towers of 40-storey Emerald Court

New Delhi: The Court of Women has refused to amend the order of the Emerald Court in Noida to demolish 2 illegal towers. The court has rejected Supertech's plea. Supertech said building rules would be followed after demolishing a tower with 224 flats incomplete. So the second tower should be allowed to remain, but the court did not give relief. The Supreme Court has earlier ordered the demolition of two of the 40-storey towers in the Supertech Emerald Court Housing Project built in Noida. However, now being said that only one of the two towers was proposed to be demolished.

The Supreme court upheld the Allahabad High Court's verdict. Under the order, the builder will have to demolish the tower in three months. The builder himself will bear the cost. At the same time, buyers will also have to return the money in two months with 12 percent interest. The court had said that both the towers will have to be demolished in 3 months and buyers will have to pay back the money in 2 months with 12 percent interest.

The Supreme Court has said that two 40-storey towers with 915 flat shops of Supertech Emerald Court in Noida were constructed keeping in view the rules. People living in the Emerald Court complex alleged that builder Supertech erected the huge towers in the society's open area without permission for the lure of money. The entire work of demolishing the tower has been monitored by Noida authority.
