Will the 'Agnee' plan come back? SC hearing to begin on July 15

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has fixed the date for hearing the petitions filed by the Central government against the new Agnipath scheme for recruitment in the Army. The court has decided to hear these applications on Friday, July 15. A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and A S Bopanna will hear the matter.

Let us know that many petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the Agnipath scheme, some of which have sought to cancel its notification itself. At the same time, a petition has also sought the formation of a panel before implementing the scheme and seeking its opinion. Last month, the scheme saw violent protests in different parts of the country. Especially in states like UP, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan and Telangana, there were violent protests and protesters had blown up public property worth crores of rupees.

On July 5 also, another petition against the Agnipath scheme was filed in the apex court. The application has been filed by ex-serviceman Ravindra Singh Shekhawat. In his petition, he had said that the notification issued by the Defence Ministry for the Agnipath scheme was illegal and unconstitutional. At the same time, it also violates the rights given in the Constitution. In particular, the petition was questioned about those candidates, who are part of the recruitment scheme already in progress and will now have to apply for it afresh.

Applications under Agnipath broke records:-

Let us know that, in the midst of heavy controversy and protests, record-breaking applications have been received in the Indian Air Force under the Agnipath scheme. A total of 7.5 lakh youth have applied for induction into the Air Force under the scheme. Let us know that the process of registration was started on June 24, 10 days after the centre started the Agnipath scheme. According to the Indian Air Force, the highest number of applications in any recruitment process was 6,31,528, which have overtaken under the Agnipath scheme this year. A total of 7,49,899 applications have been received. The IAF on Tuesday (July 5) tweeted, "The process of online registration conducted by IAF for #AgnipathRecruitmentScheme has been completed.
