Supreme decision will come on constitutionality of SC / ST Act on Monday

New Delhi: The Supreme Court is going to give a decision on the petitions challenging the validity of the SC / ST Amendment Act 2018. A decision will be given by the court in this matter on Monday. On 20 March 2018, in view of the misuse of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, the apex court automatically stayed the FIR and arrests on complaints received under this Act.

After this, the Act was amended to overturn the order of the apex court in Parliament. This was also challenged in the Supreme Court. Earlier, the apex court had reserved its decision on the petitions filed regarding SC / ST Act. On which the decision is going to come on 10 February. It is noteworthy that a petition was filed against no provision for grant of anticipatory bail to the accused who tortured SC / ST.

Earlier, the apex court had partially changed its decision regarding the SC / ST Act. The Supreme Court made some partial changes to the old judgment. According to the new change, now government servants and ordinary citizens will not need to take permission before arresting them.
