Surgical blunder: Doctor cuts woman's intestine during tubectomy in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: In a blunder surgery,  Family members of a woman from Kuhakunda village under Lakhanpur block of Jharsuguda district have alleged medical negligence during a family planning operation and have demanded action against the doctor.

As per the allegation, Sarita Bhoi, wife of Jiten Bhoi of Kuhakunda had visited Lakhanpur Community Health Centre (CHC) on March 2 for a tubectomy or family planning operation where the doctor who operated on her, cut her intestine by mistake.

consequently, the woman’s condition turned critical. She was first admitted at the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.

Jharsuguda CDMO informed she is out of danger. A doctor from the district has been sent to Burla to review her condition. Further action will be taken after a probe in this regard.
