Patna: In a shocking incident, Vikas, the thief arrested by the police, used to steal and his girlfriend Soni Kumari used to hide the stolen goods. The Buddha Colony police have arrested Soni Kumari, a resident of Noon Ka Chauraha, Loha Pul, with jewellery worth Rs 56 lakh. Soni's father Suresh Kumar Das and brother Rohit Kumar have also been arrested. Vikas, a resident of Paliganj, has confessed to stealing at several places. At his instance, the stolen jewellery seized was from the house of retired DIG Vinod Kumar Chaudhary and former MVI Girish Kumar, both residents of Vasudev Vihar Apartment in Nageshwar Colony. 1.10 kg gold jewellery and one kg silver were hidden by Vikas at his girlfriend Soni's house. Soni wore them of her own preference. Later, her brother Rohit and father Suresh Das used to earn lakhs by keeping the jewellery and selling it. Police also recovered Girish's stolen revolver, 10 cartridges, Rs 1.12 lakh cash and two motorcycles used in separate incidents. Vikas has committed 40 thefts in Khagaul, Danapur, Rupaspur, SK Puri, Buddha Colony, and Shastri Nagar police station areas. Vikas used to enjoy with the stolen money. He had gifted many ornaments to his girlfriend. Vikas is fond of walking on luxury motorcycles. He had bought a luxury bike for Rs 1.82 lakh. Soni, along with her father Suresh and brother Rohit, lived on rent in Dheeraj Yadav's house near Noon Ka Chauraha under the Mehdiganj police station area. The landlord was surprised to see jewellery worth lakhs. He said Suresh had not paid him rent for three months. He used to drive an auto to show off.
