T20 World Cup may be held outside India, but the hosting rights will remain with BCCI

Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board held a virtual meeting on Tuesday to discuss the T20 World Cup in India. ICC has given up to a month's time to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). If the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow the tournament to be held by June 28, it will be shifted elsewhere.

At present, it is being considered to shift the T20 World Cup to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). "A final decision on the host country will be taken later this month," ICC said in an official release. The board has also confirmed that BCCI will continue to host the event irrespective of where the event takes place. ICC has also released a list of their future tournaments.

Now 14 teams will participate in the Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 and 2031. A total of 54 matches will now be played in a World Cup, while the men's T20 World Cup teams has been extended to 20 by ICC. The upcoming T20 World Cup will be held in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030. The eight-team Champions Trophy in 2025 and 2029 has also been allowed by the ICC.
