Srinagar: A case has been registered against students of GMC and SKIMS in Srinagar to celebrate the Pakistani team's victory against India in the T20 World Cup. Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup match in Dubai. Pakistan's victory was celebrated in many parts of the country after India's defeat. In the same vein, students in Srinagar celebrated Pak's victory, after which Jammu and Kashmir police registered two separate cases. Official sources said police have taken special cognizance of the two incidents. One of these incidents is of the hostel of SKIMS Hospital in Soura. While the second incident was of a hostel of Government Medical College (GMC) in Karna Nagar. Both are located in the Srinagar district of central Kashmir. According to an FIR recorded at Soura police station, 'During the midnight of October 24 and 25 after Pakistan won a cricket match, MBBS and other department students living in a SKIMS (Soura) hostel raised slogans and burst crackers in favour of Pakistan. These students have been booked under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA Act), 105A and 505 IPC.' Sources said the process of registering FIR is still going on. He said the accused are yet to be identified. The investigation is continuing.
