Taking Positive steps against Covid-19, Tata Steel, SAIL, AMNS start oxygen supply in treatment

NEW DELHI: Tata Steel, SAIL India and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India) have started supplying oxygen to combat Covid. The supply is being given to the state governments and hospitals. Liquid medical oxygen (LMO) is very important for the treatment of Kovid-19 patients.

JSW Steel said on Sunday that the company is supplying oxygen for medical purposes as a priority in response to the current crises. "Currently, the supplies are ramped up to over 185 tonnes and making every effort to increase further from all our steel plants across the country," it said.

As per a government statement, the country has been facing an unprecedented surge in the new daily cases of Covid in various states and UTs across the country. The requirement for medical oxygen is a critical component in the treatment of Covid affected patients.

Tata Steel said in a social media post on Sunday that in view of the nation's need, we have started supplying oxygen. The company said that we are supplying 200-300 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen daily. This supply is being done in various state governments and hospitals. The company said that we are united in this fight and will definitely win in it.

Notably, the Centre has been regularly monitoring and ensuring smooth supply of essential medical equipment including medical oxygen to the affected states and addressing challenges that arise from time to time.

The Empowered Group-II (EG-II) headed by the Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT) is mandated by the Centre to manage requisite supplies of medical types of equipment, drugs including medical oxygen across the country, the statement said.
