Tamil Nadu govt fully prepared to tackle Omicron variant, says Governor

Chennai- Tamil Nadu: Governor R.N. Ravi said in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that the Tamil Nadu government was well equipped to deal with the new Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus and the challenges it posed. He praised the Chief Minister's leadership and asked the people of the state to continue to support the government's efforts to ensure success.

"The government has enhanced testing and checking methods at international airports in order to prevent the spread of this strain." Tamil Nadu was one of the first states in the country to establish genome sequencing facilities, based on the knowledge obtained during the second wave," Mr. Ravi stated.

The Governor stated that the state government's strategy for "effectively limiting the second wave without adversely hurting people's livelihood and economy" has served as a model for the entire country.
